There's a lot of elections happening around the world this year. Indonesia had just finished its election, the Philippines will be holding its Presidential elections next week and then there are the United States and India and a host of others. I have a one thought to ponder when you cast a ballot.
In this place I call home, there had been vile comments on the President's "motherhood statements" made by her. Well, the definition of motherhood statements were dependent on who would be declaring that what you said is a motherhood statement or not. By the way, the current president is a woman.
Yet, the machoest (or the most macho) of presidential candidates had just given his 100 day platform on radio, print and TV which was three-fold: to have lasting peace; to create permanent jobs; and then make medicinal drugs more affordable to the public. These were motherhood statements, not a single ounce of process and system and solutions were attached to what the advertisements were trying to say. When the woman president said the same this-is-my-proposal-but-without-a-operating-solution comment, it becomes a motherhood statement together with all the gall and ignorance bent to the other sex. Women are neat freaks, emotional when they begin to cry, or just use their bodies for upliftment. The male candidate said it and there wasn't a single reaction that he has a motherly vision of how to run anything.
Its your view, its your choice of picking between two visionaries for the presidency rather than administrators. I respect your choices. Well, that's why some of us work to the top so that you know how to envision since you know the processes and operation. And then how the general public would hear statements without really listening just showed us how equality is still a dream. In this place and time, we listen with a man's ear (maybe with earwax and hair) and some don't realize it. It makes a heluvah difference though.
