We know what it is. We know where it comes from. If you didn't pay attention during your Grade School Science class, oxygen is important for all animals, including humans. Plants give off oxygen during its natural processes while animals breathe it in.
I just got a glimpse of a TV report on oxygen bars and therapy given at two spots seen on the show. One was in a bar, not so trendy but the manager thought that his place would spike up some trendy points with the small oxygen machines that gave out oxygen. The irony was that the guy wearing the tubes which go straight to the nose was also smoking at the same time. The other was an aromatherapy clinic where customers during a facial and foot spa treatment would get a whiff of oxygen accompanied with the customers' favorite scent, for example, lavender, to enhance the aromatherapy experience.
I won't be all environmental, though the thought of selling transparent, odorless, God-given air for $5 for a few minutes irritates me. It does have its advantages and one of the biggest media mavens in the United States uses the name for a magazine since the magazine would be fresh and exudes an exhilirating feeling, much like pure oxygen inhaled by a person. It gives life--but now for a price.
Figure this, in the next twenty years, the air in the world would be three times as much polluted as today. The third world would be smoking cigarettes and using fossil-fuel cars for decades to come since its cheap. Air-conditioners might have built-in respirators that can funnel oxygen to a room, maybe in little amounts because of its high price. I heard classrooms nowadays have air-conditioned rooms and audio-visual equipment. I bet the textbooks, or powerpoint presentations, for Fourth graders would be changed when it would discuss oxygen. Words that would follow on the textbook definition of oxygen might turn out to be "VERY IMPORTANT", and "ESSENTIAL" and then maybe "EXPENSIVE".
