New Year's Day

My memory must be bad these days. I read a book on the stories behind U2 songs and the story behind "New Year's Day" was that it was more of a love song and a song of hope than a protest song. That's what I remember, fourteen hours after reading the book.

A year ago, my memory was quite better and some of you might think that I am getting older. Of course, a year had past. Some scientists claim that you don't really lose your long-term memory, its the short-term memory that you quickly digest and then randomly expel one or two memories while the brain sorts them when you have new memories fed into your brain. If you try hard enough to remember them, it becomes long-term memory. That's the case unless you become older and older then unfortunately you get Alzheimer's disease.

It doesn't seem graceful to grow old that way as years pass by, but some would think that its called maturity. Some call it degeneration. Dignity adds to maturity while stubborn infallability adds to degeneration. Saints versus Dictators. Indiana Jones versus that guy who drank the Cup of Christ but chose poorly.
